St. Catherine of Alexandria Library, located in the St. Raphael Room, strives to provide both religious information and inspiration to our faith community. We have about 3500 books, primarily adult, and are adding a children’s section, as well as DVDs and CDs. Large print books have been requested by our patrons and we will be striving to acquire them.
The library is open any time the church is open, with the exception of each Friday at 6 PM. It will close at that time for praying the Spanish rosary. We use a self-checkout, honor system and instructions are posted. Please put your phone number on the checkout slip. Books and CDs are checked out for 3 weeks. Return books to the basket at the library desk.
The library is also a conference room. If it is in use, there will be a closed sign on the door. This will be infrequent.
Our volunteer librarians meet every Tuesday morning. If you want help and no one is available, leave the librarians a note in a checkout card box and someone will contact you. Volunteers to help with shelving and cataloging are welcome. We also could use help with graphics and signs; planning for activities such as children’s story hours and book clubs and Bible study.
Free Online Catholic Book Resource
Thanks to technology, and perhaps due to Christianity’s low status in our modern liberal age, there is a fantastic treasure trove of good, traditional Catholic books available for free or near-free. Below are links to valuable and timeless Catholic texts (including those written by great saints and Fathers and Doctors of the Church) that you can read and download for free. Take advantage of this.
