CDA COURT
OUR LADY OF LASALETTE
NO. 1255
From its inception in 1903, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas have grown and developed into the largest organization of Catholic women in the Americas. Under the patronage of the Blessed Mother, its members are united by faith in Jesus Christ and their devotion to the Church and the Holy See.
The purpose of the organization is to participate in the religious, charitable and educational Apostolate of the Church. CDA engages in creative and spiritual programs which provide the members with opportunity to develop their God-given talents in a meaningful way, to positively influence the welfare of the Church and all peoples throughout the world. Our motto is "Unity and Charity."
In 1975, the Heart Speaks to Heart Program was introduced. This program, so named after a motto borrowed from Cardinal Newman and St. Augustine, is a program of involvement, action and service to others. It finds expression in Renewal - to God and Self. Apostolate - to Those in Need. Community - to Those in Need. Community - to our Fellow Citizens and Youth - to Our Future Hope.
Court of Our Lady of LaSalette 1255 was instituted in the parish of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church on January 27, 1937 with a charter membership of 47. Devotion to Mary under the title of Our Lady of LaSalette has been tied to a legend abut Mary appearing to two children who were tending sheep on a mountainside.
Catholic Daughters are provided with spiritual benefits which include a daily Mass at the Bishop's National headquarters in Washington, D.C. for CDA intentions and monthly Masses for our intentions by our Court Chaplain. Spiritual Bouquets are sent to our members and families in times of need and illness, in addition to special Masses for their intentions. Deceased members are enrolled in perpetual novena at Our Lady of LaSalette shrine, St. Louis, Missouri, and their families are given a presentation card.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM in St. Michael's Hall.
